Beginners White Belt training course

Demo introduction
(you will have to join the HSP to get access to all the lessons).

Kihon Happo Gata - '8 Fundamental forms'

These 8 basic forms are the foundation movements for our art, they will teach you so much more than the basic technique
you see here . . . from dealing with nearly all types of unarmed attack to disarms and weapons use at advanced levels!

As with most of our taijutsu (body methods), flow and feeling are most important!

Koshi Sanpo Gata - '3 forms' included in HSP.
Torite Goho Gata - 'hand capture, 5 forms'

The first two forms of the Torite Goho Gata are lapel grab counters, teaching
the principals of Ura (inward) and Omote (outward) movements.

This lesson will focus on Ura (kote) Gyaku - 'inward (wrist) reversal'   form 1 of 5 from Torite Goho Gata

1)  Once grabbed by the lapel (in this case your left side) lift the left hand to just beside the attackers
grabbing hand but don't touch it.

2)  Step back with left leg pulling the attacker off balance, as you step back swing the right hand towards
the attackers face, taking the attackers focus (this could be a slap, punch or flick to make them
flinch), continue over the attackers arm and grab the back of their hand (your palm over the
back of the hand grabbing your lapel).

3)  Step back to the right (reversing the direction) as you twist the attackers wrist while bringing your left hand
up to help peel the attackers grabbing hand off. this movement when done correctly will force the
attacker to lean forward, locking out their arm and forcing them out of balance.

Note:  Try to keep your back upright, move with the legs and bend the knees.
